Lung Cancer Walks Being Organized Throughout the Nation

March 1, 2004--Lung Cancer Awareness Month is right around the corner and for the 1st time ever, in 2004, there will be a series of walks honoring those who have been touched by this disease! Join us as we make lung cancer less invisible! Help us as we create Annual Walks & Rallies for Lung Cancer all across America!

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., and kills more Americans each year than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined! Yet it receives little attention, has very few walks and rallies, and gets little support. For the 160,000 people who died last year of lung cancer and the many more who have died in years past, it is time we made this disease less invisible!

Unfortunately, as one looks for rallies or walks to attend that are aimed at fighting lung cancer, one is bombarded with walks for other cancers, but none for lung cancer. As one looks on www.google.com for more information about Lung Cancer Awareness Month, one receives only about 1000 hits, verses the approximately 60,000 hits for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition, on www.google.com, there are less than 25 hits for lung cancer walks, but about 15,000 hits for breast cancer walks.

While we certainly need to have this type of attention focused on breast and other cancers, lung cancer also deserves tremendous attention. Help us get that!

For anyone who has been touched by lung cancer, please join us at the walks in New Jersey and Chicago, or consider starting a walk of your own. To participate in the walks in Chicago or New Jersey, contact Renee Kosiarek at rkosiarek@hotmail.com or 630-357-2276. To start a walk of your own, also contact Renee Kosiarek. She organized a very successful walk in Chicago last year, and is doing it again this year. She will coach you through the process and help you every step of the way. It is not that hard, but it is so worthwhile!

Lung cancer needs YOU! We need you ALL to step up and take action! Here is a way to do it. So please, start your own walks or attend ours.

Everybody with lung cancer deserves somebody who will walk in their honor. Let's do it! Together, we can make a difference for this cause!
